Hi James,

I asked one of my college lecturers about this earlier in the year, he said he would be able to give me one of the college tractors and sort out the insurance and stuff. So if you goto college, ask your lecturers!

If not you could get in contact with the DVLA ask them about testing centres etc.. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/welcome.htm or you could goto your local PostOffice and ask them.

Ultimately wait until your 17, pass your car test which also covers your tractor licence (this is what im gonna do)

Cheers,

Robert

that website what you gave me is no help, what is it meant to be?

I study at the agriculture college in Arbroath (scotland) One of the things we do is learn about driving tractors on the road, using trailers etc. The college lecturers cant put you through a tractor test but only give you a tractor for the day and also sort out the insurance for you. What you have to do once you have a tractor is find a testing centre which will put you through a test, etc.. This is only usefull if you goto college.

If you work on a farm, ask the farmer about insurance, using one of his tractors

I would first of all try emailing

customer.services@dsa.gsi.gov.uk

Tell them that your 16, you want to sit a tractor test. Ask them for any info!

Thanks again

Robert

if you work on a farm, it is a good thing to take it so you can help even more around the farm by going on the road, i cant wait till i pass my car driving test becasue i need to do it for the summer for carting grain and bales.

Thanks

Hi!

Im 16 in 115 days time (17 weeks) and I also want to drive a tractor on the road. I have a David Brown 880 Implematic with a Ransomes 2 furrow TS59N plough.

I think I am right in saying that any car place [e.g. BSM] can let you take a test. I met somebody at Work Experience who had just taken his test. He has a Case 1494 Hydra-shift. He said that they watch you and make sure your doing things right. They dont sit in the cab with you.

Try the BSM website or the DVLA website [www.dvla.gov.uk] and ask them about it. I got a good reply to another problem.

Let me know how you get on!

Ill ask around at my NVTEC club if you like (National Vintage Tractor & Engine Club).

I'm sure I will get a good answer there!
